Norris Heartt House Restoration

Progress is being made at the Norris Heartt House Restoration project. The porch, roof and bays have now been completed.  The new columns and balustrade match the existing porch elements on the north elevation.  Trim and fascia are being restored to the original gable end and the gable returns have been extended to their original length.  In order to determine the proper dimension of the returns, lap siding was removed from the gable exterior and the attic rafter ends inspected for evidence of modification. The rafters were clearly cut back where the gable returns had been previously removed to accommodate a later addition to the building.

Norris Heartt House looks more like itself every day!  Restoration continues, stay tuned!
