The Downtown Tarboro Investment Showcase Event will take place:

The event will be held in the WS CLARK BUILDING located at:
409 N. MAIN ST. TARBORO, NC
The Economic Vitality Committee of the Tarboro Development Corporation has identified 12 property owners that have an interest in selling or are seeking partnering investors for their“opportunity spaces.” Each of the 12 properties will be open for viewing during this event. The event will allow you the chance to learn about the guidelines and benefits of utilizing historic tax credits and why Tarboro is a great place to invest.
David Maurer will speak about “Downtown Development & Upper-Story Development”
This session on renovating downtown buildings for residential use will share experiences and guidance with design issues, balancing the regulations of building codes (including life safety, accessibility, and energy) and meeting the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation for historic tax credits and costs.

One of the 12 featured properties includes the 208 N. Main St., J.E. Simmons Building (see picture below):
“This handsome, little altered 2-story brick store with parapet, pedimented cornice, arched central window, keystoned windows, bracketed and pilastered first story was built in 1910 by J.E. Simmons. The store was used as a furniture store for the family furniture business until it closed in 2016. This property is a contributing structure.”
