The Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit will be given to Todd's Building, 21 S. Front St. (which now houses Next Glass HQ) and James Goodnight, for his genuine commitment and significant participation in historic preservation across the state! We are proud to be a partner in preservation and look forward to celebrating this honor at PNC's Annual Conference in Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington this fall!
Historic landmark plaques have been installed at two of Raleigh's registered historic buildings. We are proud to have been part of the restoration of Fisher's Bakery & Sandwich Company building and the HJ Brown Coffin House. Below are descriptions of the buildings from the Raleigh Historic Development Commission:
This former post office and government office building has now come to life as a downtown pizzeria in Sanford. The front entrance, previously the public side of the post office, is now a gelato counter and seating area. The back portion of the building, which served as the post office service space and private offices, has become the restaurant kitchen, bar and seating area.
The Benchwarmers tenant space is under construction in the Transfer Co. Food Hall.
There is a large wood-burning oven that will be visible from the seating area. The kitchen is open to the surrounding space so the whole process, from start to finish, will be visible to customers. We can't wait to see the space come to life!
We are thrilled to announce our collaboration on the restoration of one of Raleigh's finest historic landmarks: Montfort Hall, in Boylan Heights. The historic mansion, built in 1858, will be transformed into a boutique inn and event space, pending approved rezoning from the city. Another successful project with Rufty Peedin has been completed. The new Nest Realty location in Cary is now open for business. This first-time interior completion will be a great addition to the quickly growing Village Square at Amberly.
Progress is being made at The Lofts at Old Town Hall project in Clayton. What was originally built as Clayton's Town Hall in 1925, this building has housed municipal offices, a library, courthouse, fire department, police department, and small jail. It is now being repurposed to occupy sixteen, one-bedroom apartments.
The building was built as a warehouse in 1950 and will now host a manufacturing facility for Kelly Puryear's famous chicken salad. The Grace Homemade facility will create, package and distribute chicken salad, and other savory goods. There will be a storefront deli for neighborhood shoppers, as well as a mezzanine office space, between the large trusses, for Kelly to oversee the entire process. Stay tuned to see more updates on this exciting project!
We are excited to announce our collaboration with Trophy Brewing on the expansion of the original Morgan Street location. The expansion will include the building of a new brewing system that will expand Trophy's sour and barrel-aged program. Additional outdoor seating will also be added along the front of the building.
Alamo Drafthouse celebrated its opening with an 80's-themed VIP Grand Opening Party last Saturday evening. The party included an on-theme scavenger hunt and various theater activities, including karaoke, cartoons, and cereal! We had a fun night celebrating the success of this project with many other talented collaborators.
