The historic Lutterloh Building in downtown Sanford, built in the early 1900s, will soon undergo construction. The building owners held a 'pre-construction' party on Friday, October 13th (very fitting, we thought!) so that curious locals could walk through and experience the building in its 'before' state ...

Progress is being made at the Norris Heartt House Restoration project. The porch, roof and bays have now been completed.  The new columns and balustrade match the existing porch elements on the north elevation ...

Built in 1926, the Panther Branch Rosenwald School is one out of five of the remaining twenty-one constructed in Wake County between 1919 and 1928. We began work on this project back in 2013, and are continuing to make progress!

The John Street Properties were submitted as a nomination for the NC Main Street Center— 2017 Best Adaptive Reuse Project. The nomination was submitted by the Goldsboro Downtown Development office due to its significance in the betterment of Downtown Goldsboro.

Maurer Architecture is honored to have received two 2017 ULI J. W. Willie York Awards for our work with the Hotel Durham and Dock 1053 (Lynwood Brewing Concern) projects.

We have a friendly new face in the Maurer office. Annika Wilcox, an NC State graduate student of sociology, will be conducting weekly observations at our office in order to fulfill a key requirement for a field research methods course.

Daniels and Daniels Construction Co., Inc. was awarded the 2017 Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit for the restoration and reuse of the Goldsboro Drug Company Building. The award will be presented as a part of Preservation North Carolina’s Annual Conference in Charlotte on Friday, September 29th at 11:00 AM.

Charlotte's newest brewery, Resident Culture, is now open in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. The 14,000 square foot space was designed with an open area concept that flows through from indoors to outdoors. We incorporated many glass windows and overhead doors to achieve this feel.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema — Coming late 2017

We've teamed up with Weiss Architecture in Austin, TX to provide architecture services to this upcoming Raleigh project. With 21 current locations, Alamo Drafthouse will make a new home in Raleigh toward the end of 2017.

Progress has come a long way on our 1407 South Bloodworth project. Space A is now complete and the studio spaces are full.

HQ Raleigh officially opened its doors inside the newly renovated, historic Capital Club building on July 1 in downtown Raleigh. The Maurer team is proud to have led this renovation. HQ Raleigh now occupies the top five floors of the building—leasable office suites and meeting spaces are now available on floors 8-11 and the 12th floor houses a 4,000 ballroom used for private events and weddings. 

David Maurer will give a presentation at the Land Use Development Board Meeting, tomorrow, August 16 in Hickory, on "Upper Level Downtown Housing."

The porch and bays have a new foundation constructed with original brick, and the framing went up on the east elevation this week!  We are thrilled to see the beautiful new windows installed and trim work beginning.  More to come!

Preservation NC featured our very own Craig Bethel in their Spring 2017 newsletter!  Craig and Julie Sikes have been involved with the moving and rehabilitation of the historic Schaffer House in the Prince Hall Historic District downtown.

Our latest brewery project is under construction in Charlotte! Resident Culture, located in Plaza Midwood, will open this spring. The taproom will be a lively neighborhood hangout, and the brewery will focus on fresh hoppy beers with a unique barrel aging program. 

We are currently seeking to fill an available position with a talented and energetic individual with 3-5 years experience. Projects will include adaptive reuse, historic renovation, new commercial, and housing.

HQ Raleigh is expanding! The group will be moving into the top five floors of downtown Raleigh's historic Capital Club Building, and our team is proud to be heading up the renovation. The 8th-11th floors will be used as office suites and meeting space, and the ballroom on the 12th floor will be used for collaborative work space and lounge seating.
